Counter-Strike: Source brought the classic Counter-Strike gameplay to the Source engine. For over a decade, CS:S servers ran on SourceMod and Metamod:Source — powering everything from surf servers and jailbreak modes to competitive league configs. While its player base has migrated to CS2, the CS:S modding community built many of the patterns and tools that CS2 plugin developers use today.
